Red Woods Cannabis is an up-and-coming co-op brand in Humboldt County that sources its product from a network of small-scale craft farmers. They provide premium and sustainably sun-grown pre-ground cannabis to the budgeting millennial.
They hired me to create their branding and packaging from the ground up. The result was a timeless monogram logo with a bundle of branding assets to be used in a range of applications. The three skews of packaging for each terpene profile gave homage to the Humboldt landscape in a minimal but rustic style.

The packaging design was a nod to the Humboldt landscape, a visual tribute to the community that Red Woods is connected to and dedicated to. The Copy throughout the entire packaging line informed their customers of Red Woods' community-based operation and also included information cards in the packaging to credit their partners.
Together the client and I strategized on defining the core values, attributes, and personality for Red Woods as a brand and to their desired customers. This gave us a better understanding of shaping the essence of what the brand identity would visually communicate.
For the visual identity of the logo system, I worked out a heritage theme contrasted by the modern mono-line illustrations on the packaging. The final form of this design identity was a monogram style logo design, with a bold, timeless mark utilizing a distressed typeface family.
